Gord Yoshida, P. Eng. Fire Protection Engineer Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management
Gord Yoshida has spent thirty-two years assisting fire service personnel and the public with the Ontario Fire Code requirements and general fire safety matters. He has taught seminars on practical application and the intent of Fire Code requirements, assisted in fire investigations involving loss of life and property, reviewed performance of building fire safety features under fire conditions, and served as an expert witness at Coroner's inquests, Civil and Criminal Courts. He is involved in developing and implementing amendments to the Ontario Fire Code and is a recent recipient of CSA’s Award of Merit.
The presentation will highlight recent changes to the Fire Code that address fire safety in vulnerable occupancies and ongoing work to introduce new requirements for the installation and maintenance of carbon monoxide alarms in existing homes. As well, a number of technical and editorial amendments to various parts of the Fire Code are in the final stages with a plan for implementation early next year.
