Jasmina Kovacevic, P.Eng. Experience Assessment Officer Professional Engineers Ontario
Jasmina is a P.Eng., Civil/Structural engineer. Jasmina is internationally trained engineer with B.A.Sc. in Civil/Structural from the University of Belgrade. Prior to joining PEO (2013) Jasmina worked in consulting and has more the 10 years of professional experience on projects in Europe, Asia and Canada. Her experience encompassed several multidisciplinary and multinational projects such as Hong Kong Airport project, Toronto Pearson Airport project as well as various projects in telecommunication and restoration industry.
Jasmina joined PEO in 2013 in a role of Experience Assessment Officer/Engineer. Work is at the last stage of the PEO application process in assessing PEO experience and providing recommendations for the approval. Work includes every day interaction with Canadian as well as internationally trained graduates in assisting and guiding them through the PEO process and requirements towards a P.Eng. licensure. Another aspect of the work is in collaborating with various industry/public partners in presentations regarding the PEO/P.Eng. application process/requirements.
Sherin Khalil, P.Eng., PMP Standards and Guidelines Development Coordinator Professional Engineers Ontario
Sherin Khalil is the Standards and Guidelines Development Coordinator at Professional Engineers Ontario, and is also part of the Practice Advisory team. PEO’s Practice Advisory team’s role is to assist licence holders with issues related to professional practice and to verify their responsibilities under the Professional Engineers Act. Sherin holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, is a licence holder with Professional Engineers Ontario, and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from the Project Management Institution (PMI).
Jasmina will focus on experience requirements for licensure. Quantitative and qualitative requirements, acceptable engineering experience/PEO concerns, interpretation of engineering experience in specific area of practice, link of academics to work and specific engineering principles applied, tools used for the assessment.
Sherin will provide an overview of the PEO practice guideline “Use of the Professional Engineer’s Seal”. The purpose of this guideline is to provide professional engineers with guidance on the proper use of the professional engineer’s seal. It provides sufficient information for practitioners to resolve questions that may arise in common practice situations. The presentation will address the most common practice questions regarding the Use of the Seal that PEO’s Practice Advisory team often receive from licence holders. The presentation is in a Question/Answer format and is a more hands-on presentation so participants’ input will be required.
