SPEAKER:

Ali Asraei, P.Eng.
Jensen Hughes

Ali Asraei, P.Eng. has ten years’ experience in designing fire alarm systems and fire protection consulting and is currently employed at Jensen Hughes Consulting Canada Ltd. as a Project Engineer.

His expertise includes fire alarm system design for commercial, residential, and industrial facilities; construction management and commissioning; fire alarm system code compliance review and condition assessment; Building Code and Fire Code Inspections; and Life Safety and Fire Protection Consulting.

Ali is a P.Eng. licensed in the province of Ontario, as well as a Fire Alarm Technician registered with Canadian Fire Alarm Association. He also is a member of ULC Working Group for CAN/ULC-S536 “Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems”, and CAN/ULC-S537 “Verification of Fire Alarm Systems”.

SYNOPSIS:

In this presentation the commissioning of the fire and life safety systems, and the requirements of CAN/ULC-S1001 Standard “Integrated Systems Testing of Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems” will be discussed. CAN/ULC-S1001 Standard is currently referenced in 2015 National Building Code of Canada to test the integrations between fire protection and life safety systems, and systems as a whole to verify proper integration.

Ali will provide an overview and a discussion on the background of the CAN/ULC-S1001 Standard, the difference between commissioning and integrated systems testing, the scope of this Standard as well as the implementation of the requirements of it.
