The Performance-Based Design and the Codes seminar on April 24 provides an overview of the SFPE Engineering Guide to Performance-Based Fire Protection, which identifies methods for defining a project scope; developing goals, objectives and performance criteria; selecting design fire scenarios and design fires; developing and evaluating trial designs; and preparing design documentation. The course also covers emerging issues related to Performance-Based Design (PBD), such as incorporating Risk Informed Methods in PBD; selecting an appropriate fire model; estimating required safe egress time (RSET); using performance-based design in tall buildings, long tunnels, structural fire engineering and ITM for fire protection systems; and conducting peer review for a performance-based design.
