As you may be aware, there have been several confirmed cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the GTA. With this information, it is imperative that we take the necessary precautions to help prevent further spread of this virus. The Southern Ontario Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE Southern Ontario) is committed to ensuring we provide a safe and healthy environment for our membership.
Prior to registering and attending any of our upcoming Lunch & Learn events, please ask yourself:
- Have you traveled to the following countries in the last month?
China, Hong Kong, Japan, Iran, Italy, Macau, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand.
- Have you been in close contact with any family members or close contacts who have traveled to the countries listed in the last month?
- Have you been in close contact with anyone with a suspected or confirmed case of Coronavirus (Covid-19)?
If you answer yes to ANY of these questions and have a fever, cough, or other respiratory symptoms, we ask that you do not attend our upcoming Lunch & Learn event.
We also ask that our membership use good judgement regarding hygiene when attending SFPE Southern Ontario events. Specifically, to help prevent the spread of viruses it is important that everyone wash their hands frequently with soap and water (for at least 20 seconds), use alcohol-based sanitizer when hand washing is unavailable, and cough and/or sneeze into a disposable tissue or your elbow/arm rather than your hands.
