SYNOPSIS:

The current pandemic has more than ever exemplified the importance of emergency planning in organizations. Building managers, who oversee their built environment, recognize the value of having a robust fire and emergency management program. At the minimum, these programs aim to meet the regulatory compliance requirements from the authorities having jurisdiction and at best, they are intended to provide foresight and guidance to an organization through emergencies. This presentation will provide a conceptual overview on the design and development of a fire and emergency management program; and using current, real-world examples on how these programs are implemented in one of Canada’s largest and iconic high rise commercial office buildings, Scotia Plaza, the headquarters of Scotiabank.
